javier from coso smashing shit! there was a contact mic attached to this monitor, which i took the liberty of kicking through the rest of the set. prog-noise in the hizza! this event was part of a monthly noise/artrock/exp series called EU!ZINE at the FLA (federaci’on libertaria argentina), a low-key anarchist library and community center on av brasil around 15XX. look into it, people visiting argentina!!!

wierdest double-header of all time— super hippy multi-tonal “harmonic intervention” in Constituci’on station at friday rush hour (!!!) followed by… Jan Jelinek getting all kinds of power-noise and electro-acoustic at the Goethe Institut (with a sound system that would make Naut Humon jealous, preceding by simul-translated lecture/interview!!! hippy singalong made me miss that part, tho).
katrina insisted we see tango, so we saw the “young and hip” orquestra típica fernandez fierro, which was a spot-on and technically proficient time-capsule reproduction of 40s-era tango (cf. anibal troilo), at a barny space near the abasto on sanchez de bustamante (which i found out the next day i had lived on, 4 blocks south of the space, at ages 1 to 2).
when left to my own devices, i attend “psychedelic tributes” to 60s cumbia artists (in this case, juaneco y su combo) with intermission shows by fire dancers at reggae bars. doooooooood.
Los Masis spin-off orchestra, led by a veteran Weltmusik player who flatly told us (even before finding out they were Cordobés) that Argentines “son todos unos arrogantes de mierda” 5 minutes into a friendly chat. WTF? I didn’t smell even a hint of alcohol to excuse such behavior (although hearing all the cute young singers call him Don Whatever may have something to do with it).
I ain’t gonna knock the Masis museum’s charango collection, tho.
